Messages from the Book of Acts

The Spirit Flexes His Power: There are times that the Spirit of God clearly works to get everyone's attention. This time in Paul's ministry was one such time. We pray for these same times today.
God Builds His Team: Paul didn't know it, but God was building the team he would need for the future, even while he was away. He does the same for those who serve him today.
Living in God's Special Protection: When Paul moves to Corinth, God gives him a special promise. When others try to violate God's promise, Paul and every other Christian is granted freedom to live their faith throughout the Roman Empire.
Speaking to Those Who Do Not Know: Paul's outreach to the Athenians is a masterpiece of outreach in a culture that did not have any Judeo-Christian influence. Starting from themes they could understand, he builds toward winning them with ideas they could apprehend. We can learn much about ministering in a post-Christian culture from his message.
Stirring Up the World: Paul's adventures remind us that Christians, and Christianity, often are attacked with false accusation and more. Things get stirred up when God is moving.
Working with God for Good 2: Bad things happen. However, God has given his people the ability to respond to bad things in such a way that good is released. Paul and Silas demonstrate this very thing, and show us how to do the same type of thing in our lives.

Responding to God's Prohibitions: Sometimes God says, "No" to our plans, our desires, and our purposes. This account in the life of Paul shows one such time in his life, and reminds us that God knows the big picture, and that even his prohibitions release his Kingdom life.
Building Kingdom Teams: Because we have a limited perspective, we often miss what God is doing as people shift from team to team, church to church, or group to group. While God is certainly not responsible for every shift in allegiance or position, he is able to use it to build his Kingdom his way.
Adjusting to Different Cultures: As the early church dealt with the question of the law and Gentiles, it became clear that they saw the Lord doing a twofold work. He was continuing to work among his Jewish people, and adding something new for the Gentiles.
Rebuilding David's Fallen Tent: As the early church dealt with the question of the law and Gentiles, it became clear that they saw the Lord doing a twofold work. He was continuing to work among his Jewish people, and adding something new for the Gentiles.
Pressing Through the Trials II: As Paul and Barnabas continue their mission, they begin to encounter increasing resistance. As they press through the resistance, and the Lord meets them with his power, we are reminded that we are called to be overcomers in every circumstance.

Let the Light Shine: The apostle Paul reminds his Jewish audience that their mission was as a light to the nations. In a very real way, Paul's mission was an extension of that mission, a mission that every child of God still carries today.
Keeping Current with God's Plan: Every generation faces the danger of becoming stagnant instead of pursuing God. The apostle Paul warns his listeners about this danger, and helps us appreciate all that God's forgiveness entails in our lives.
Learning the Gospel of Paul: Paul mentioned his gospel several different times in his letters. As we look at the start of his mission journeys, we learn some of what his gospel entailed, and how it makes a difference today.
Following the Holy Spirit: When the Lord launches a new phase of ministry, he calls his church to follow his Spirit closely. We clearly see that as Paul and Barnabas launch out into the Gentile phase of ministry, and are reminded that following the Spirit has many important implications for us.
When God Plans for Growth: When God is about to move on the earth, he removes impediments, and positions his people. As we watch God's dealings with Herod, and his positioning of his people in Antioch, we see how he prepares to release growth.
There Is Always Hope for Rescue: Even though you situation may look grim, there is always hope for rescue. As we study Peter's dire situation, we see God's plan for a last minute rescue unfold, and are reminded that there is always hope.
Finding Your Connection: If Barnabas wanted to fulfill his calling in Antioch, he needed to make an important connection. If Saul was to achieve his purposes, he had to find his connections. So do we.
